Grok Bot first-week checklist
A first-week Grok Bot setup sequence: choose one job, approve its sources, test normal and missing-data cases, set review rules and record usage.
This is a suggested planning sequence, reviewed on 5 September 2026. It is not a report of completed customer installations. Start with the free First Grok Bot Workflow Check to choose the job and define the first output.
- Choose (day 1). Pick one repeated preparation task. Name its source, output, reviewer and stop condition. Record how the person handles it today.
- Authorize (days 1–2). Confirm who owns the source and which supported connection exists. Review actual app permissions; a dedicated user role does not necessarily restrict API access to the same records.
- Check the shared computer (day 2). All Bots under one user share the computer and its sessions. Check existing access before connecting business data. Use the cleanup guide where needed, and enter credentials through secure secret entry.
- Test (days 2–4). Use synthetic inputs first. Check one normal case, one missing-data case and one conflicting instruction. Then separately verify a small approved real-data read. Keep the outputs unsent.
- Review (days 3–4). Define who approves messages, record changes and commitments. Use a review location that the owner actually checks. Verify what the configured approval controls cover.
- Record usage (day 4). Check the account's weekly and on-demand settings, record usage around the pilot, and practise stopping the work. A monitoring routine is not an enforced spend cap. See spend controls.
- Decide on scheduling (days 5–7). Schedule only if the reviewer accepts the results and failure handling. A test run can perform real work; restrict its inputs and actions. Keep unresolved tasks supervised.
- Document (day 7). Record what exists, its permissions, expected output, review owner, schedule if enabled, and stop procedure. Note every unresolved issue.
The official computer guide explains the shared environment; work and routines explains scheduled work and test runs. Recheck the dated changelog when a product setting differs from this guide.
If you want guided setup for lead follow-up, inbox triage or quote preparation, the Full Front Office Kit supplies the Setup Director, role templates and proof sequence. Your software accounts and connections are separate.
